The 127th Alpha Chapter of Wisconsin, Phi Beta Kappa Induction Ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, April 11, 2026 at the Monona Terrace in downtown Madison at 1 John Nolen Drive.
The ceremony begins at 4:00 p.m. with the procession of officers, members, and inductees. The program is hosted by President Jeanne Schueller, Department of German, Nordic, and Slavic+ . A brief reception with refreshments will follow the ceremony. This reception is not a meal. If you are looking for a place to celebrate with your guests, we suggest one of the many wonderful restaurants in the downtown area. You may want to plan ahead and make a reservation.
Students being inducted are asked to arrive at 3:30 p.m. and check in at the registration table for further instructions. New inductees can pick up their packets and graduation cords at this time.
If new members are unable to attend, there is a designated time for packet pick-up on April 29, 2026. Learn more on the PBK Events page.
Guests:
Guests are invited to attend in person to celebrate this honor with new inductees. Due to capacity issues, we ask that inductees limit guests to two or three people.
The event will also be live-streamed. Accepted members will be sent the streaming link directly in the weeks before the induction ceremony. Inductees are welcome to share that link with their guests.
Dress Code:
The suggested dress is business casual, but please wear whatever is comfortable for you. You can utilize the SuccessWorks Career Closet for free professional and business casual attire if you’d like. L&S students can choose up to four items per semester, completely free and yours to keep.
There will be a photographer at the induction, but we cannot guarantee that every inductee will get their photo taken. Following the event, new inductees will receive a link to download the induction photos.
Parking and Transportation:
Parking is available at the facility for fee. Access to the lot is on John Nolen Drive. Attendees should expect some delays due to construction on John Nolen Drive. Please review the Monona Terrace’s Parking & Directions page for more information.
There are several Madison Metro bus routes that leave the campus area and either travel directly to the Monona Terrace or have stops nearby. Use the Madison Metro site to plan your trip.
Accommodation Requests:
If you or your guests require any disability related accommodations during the induction ceremony, please email pbk@saa.ls.wisc.edu as soon as possible.
What to Expect at the Induction:
In addition to the presentation of new members, the 2026 Phi Beta Kappa Excellence in Teaching award will be presented. There is also an honorary induction and a student speaker.
